A letter from Credo's Artistic Director, Peter Slowik

So, you're looking at summer programs – they all have nice websites and they are all pretty expensive. How will you know which is right for your son or daughter?

I'm Credo founder Peter Slowik. I've dedicated my life to working with talented string students. My experiences teaching at the country's leading conservatories and summer festivals – and raising four children - have helped make Credo a program where people are as highly valued as the music they produce.

Credo is unique among the leading summer music programs because of the family atmosphere that we cultivate. The Credo experience nurtures the physical, mental, emotional, and character tools that will help them achieve success as performers and artists.

While students are being technically and musically challenged by daily small-group intensive coaching, they are being built up in personal relationships based on strong values and personal mentorship from this country's leading performers and teachers.

As you evaluate summer programs, look at four things: curriculum, faculty, facilities, and people.

First – curriculum. Credo provides more small group and one-on-four coaching than any other program in the country – the chamber music focus allows students to learn from their peers in addition to learning from the faculty.

Second - The faculty. Credo's faculty is a "who's – who" of impressive job titles – but more importantly, it is a collection of deeply caring mentors who maintain relationships with our alumni for years to come.

Third – facilities. Credo's home, the Oberlin Conservatory, is world-renowned for its excellence. Students coming here for the summer get to know first-hand how it feels to use world-class libraries, practice rooms, concert halls, and recording studios.

But above all, it's the people of Credo that make this an experience like no other. From the admissions and residential staff, to the students, to the faculty and administrators, all share an extraordinary commitment to the camp's motto, which is Philippians 4:8– whatever is good, noble, etc – think on these things.

I welcome your further exploration into the Credo world – take a look at our videos, ask us questions, talk to alumni.... We look forward to meet the specific needs of your son/daughter.

Warmly,

Peter Slowik

whatever is admirable — if there is anything excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.”
